According to reports on twitter last night Reading are preparing a bid for out of favour Spurs striker Jermain Defoe.
The author of "Steve Coppell: On a Wing and a Prayer" Stuart Roach wrote on twitter "Hearing with increasing credibility that Jermain Defoe to #Readingfc is ON." Other reliable sources on twitter have suggested a £10million bid could go in!
McDermott last night rejected the rumours (http://t.co/ocETQfxf) but Brian rejected the talks regarding Adam Le Fondre and Adam signed two days after McDermott rejected it.
You never know Defoe could become a surprise Reading player.

Defoe met with Reading officials on Thursday. A deal has been agreed with Spurs, and it is believed the player is interested in a move to Reading. Now we wait and see if we can offer him the terms he wants, which I suspect we can't, but we will see.

Rumours this morning suggest a deal for Jermain Defoe is off. The player is asked for wages which Reading are not prepared to match. Reading's wage cap is believed to be in the region of £45k a week, and Defoe wants considerably more than that. For now at least, this one is not happening.

Perhaps we could be back in for Rhodes?
Huddersfield are attempting to buy strikers which signals the end of Rhodes?
Darren O'Dea was linked with a move to Hudds to replace Morrison but the interest has cooled (Was that a ploy)
Jermain Defoe to Reading? (Was that a ploy) We must of known we couldn't afford his wages!

Defoe shows we have ambition and therefore could tempt Rhodes to the Mad Stand?

West Ham have also spoken to Spurs about Defoe's availability and we're told a deal could be done. Defoe wasn't interested in a move back to West Ham. I think this goes back to how he was treated by the locals when he left them for Tottenham.

There could still be a loan deal for Reading, but it depends on a number of things falling into place at Spurs, that you just can't call it. But Defoe has spoken with Reading and did express an interest in linking up with the club this season.
