What a bargain for them. Can only presume that he has been given assurances that Rogers is staying as manager? Such a talented player. Wouldn't be out of place in the Manchester United midfield...

    Where now? Liverpool?

Medical tomorrow, but he was going for Rodgers who gave him his chance at Reading.

Be surprised if he signs at Swansea now

I'm holding on to the hope that Liverpool will not want to take a risk bringing in another player with little top flight experience. Then Reading can nab him for a couple of seasons before he inevitably goes to a Champions League club.

      Today could be very telling...

I'm not expecting his medical to take place. He wont sign for Swansea without Rodgers being the manager, so IMO it will either be delayed or just wont happen, depending on any Liverpool announcements later.

Have we bid? Watch this space.

Reading have entered the race for Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Hoffenheim have received a bid and the club are hopeful of convincing their former midfielder to make a return to the Madejski Stadium.

I don't know if we have started talks with the player or his father, but Reading are hoping to capitalise on Swansea's loss, now that Brendan Rodgers is set to join Liverpool.

Sigurdsson was set to have his medical at Swansea today and then complete the deal, having previously agreed terms with the club, but the medical did not take place. Brendan Rodgers has a close relationship with the player and was key to any permanent move. It's thought now that the deal is dead.

A large stumbling block could be if Liverpool come in for him, and Sigurdsson's relationship with Brendan Rodgers could well see him move to Anfield. However, if Liverpool don't join the race for him then Reading might just complete a shock transfer this summer which will require the club smashing their transfer record by almost three times.

I must emphasise though, it is only an offer at this stage and that means very little - but the intent is there.

Would be incredible if it came off. I do think that if Liverpool came in for him as well then we have almost no chance. The only thing that might help us is his past history with us and McDermott and that he will play week in week out. If I remember correctly he wanted to leave Hoffenheim because he was sitting on the bench a lot. Whether Liverpool can offer him the same playing time as us I don't know but with their current team there is a fair chance I suppose.

Looks like the takeover may have come in just in time!

Looks like Swansea may have spoken to soon regarding Sigurdsson. Statement from Hoffenheim:

Communications manager Holger Tromp said: “Since there has not been any contract written or even signed yet with Swansea, we need to still plan with Gylfi. He is a player with a regular contract in Hoffenheim and we expect him to be back in training on June 18th."

Swansea's chairman still seems confident a deal for Siggy will go through: http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/ ... 50,00.html

Huw also confirmed that the proposed transfer of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenheim is on-going with a transfer fee and personal terms agreed.

"We've done all we can with Gylfi agreeing terms and a fee, but he's gone away on holiday which has delayed things a bit. However, we are hopeful of getting things tied up next week," added Huw.
