I'm a little surprised they haven't tried to tie him down earlier as Fulham aren't exactly blessed with strikers. Zamora sold in January, Johnson leaving on a free and Ruiz has been disappointing. Dempsey is their only prolific goalscorer and he could leaving as well.

According to a People exclusive today, Reading have won the race to sign Pavel Pogrebnyak on a free transfer after failing to agree a wage structure with Fulham. Pavel played 8 games and scored 6 goals in a brief spell with London club Fulham including a perfect hat-trick against Wolves in a 5-0 win.

Good signing! lets hope he signs on the dotted line.

According to The Sun on Tuesday, Reading are prepared to offer Pavel Pogrebnyak 65k a week!

Due to all this media speculation it wouldn't be too much of a surprise if he actually signs for Reading on a free transfer but 65K a week must be wrong perhaps 35K at the most?

65k would not suprise me tbh, he is an international player , with other offers on the table, maybe the only way we are going to attract the 'bigger' name players is by flashing the cash?

Update: According to SSN (TV) they have stated Pogrebnyak is to have a medical tomorrow before signing.
Things are really starting to look up for Reading Football Club

2nd update: Agent: "We are not just talking with Reading. There are other English clubs. The final decision will be in a week's time."
However I am told this is just a cover up and he will indeed undertake a medical later this week.

We haven't offered £65k a week. It's in the region of £35k, plus bonuses, and a very substantial signing on fee.

Pogrebnyak has apparently told the club he will sign, but I remember Tommy Smith doing the same. So until this is done and dusted, I wont get too excited, but it sounds very positive indeed.

Hopefully this happens, would be a massive signing, although i have a feeling this maybe just a way of putting himself in the shop window?
